Transfer Station
The Transfer Station is also located at 21 Birch Swamp Road, and is open Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and on Saturday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. A map and directions to the facility can be found below.
Transfer Station Rules and Regulations for 2009-2010 A Residence Sticker costs $5.00 for each sticker. You must have a resident sticker to use the Transfer Station. All vehicles entering the facility must stop on the scale until the clerk signals them to proceed. All vehicles then stop at the office for inspection of the load. Any persons dumping material in areas other than the designated areas will lose the right to use the facility.
Resident Sticker Policy Residents with a sticker are allowed to dispose of 1000 pounds of trash yearly. Yard waste and metal are free of charge. The first overage will be manual charged. Once the limit is exceeded, commercial rates will apply to all.
By law, this facility cannot accept any hazardous waste. This includes, but is not limited to, paints, thinners, pesticides, gasoline or any product with CAUTION or WARNING on its label.
Loads will be sorted for proper disposal, i.e. trash, construction debris, metals, brush, yard waste, tires, televisions, computers, etc.
All wood will be no longer than 4 feet in length.
Attendant will inspect each load prior to dumping.
A fee will be charged for refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, mattresses and box springs.
Household hazardous waste can be disposed of by calling for an appointment with Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation at (401) 942-1430 ext. 241.
Waste oil, old oil filters, used antifreeze, televisions, computer monitors and all electronic waste may also be disposed in the designated areas free of charge to residents.

Recyclable Items at the Transfer Station

Old Clothing Clothing, Towels And Linens, Curtains, Handbags, Belts, Flat Shoes, Slippers and Sneakers
|
- Ties shoes in pairs.
- Put in plastic shopping bags. Don't overfill. Burp air from bag.
- Mark the bag as "Clothing."
- Place on top of or next to your bin.

- No high heels
- No grease or soiled clothing
- No rugs or carpets
- Nothing damp or wet

Appliance Collection Refrigerators (doors removed), stoves, water tanks, dryers, washers, mowers, other metal

- All fluids and oils removed
- Oil tanks must be cleaned and cut in half
- No car parts
- Do not put materials curbside until 24 hours before scheduled appointments
