Culture and the Arts in Warren

Warren maintains a diverse arts community that includes visual, literary and performing arts.  Some highlights to consider on your visit to Warren:

2nd Story Theatre, located between Main and Child Streets, was described recently in the Wall Street Journal as "small town theater at its best."  Visit their website at //www.2ndstorytheatre.com/.

Award winning Arts Shops and Galleries, includingYES Gallery on Water Street, MUSE on Main Street and Imago Gallery (soon moving near the theater on Child Street).

Warren Tax-Free Arts District

Warren has one of
Rhode Island's Tax-Free Arts Districts, which provide incentives to artists to live and work within the district.  Sales from artwork within the district are EXEMPT from sales tax.  Also, any income received from the sale of art work in the district is exempt from state personal income tax.  Finally, gallery spaces within the district that sell original, one of a kind works of art are exempt from state sales tax, whether or not the art was created in the district.

Rhode Island's Other Arts Districts

Interested in exploring Rhode Island's diverse arts community?  Rhode Island currently has nine Tax-Free Arts Districts:  Providence, Pawtucket, Westerly, Woonsocket, Tiverton, Little Compton, Newport, Warwick and Warren.
