Warren Probate Court has jurisdiction over the following types of cases:
- Decedent's estates; this includes persons who have died with a Will (testate) or those without an (intestate).
- Adult Limited Guardianships, either of the person, estate or both.
- Minor Guardianships, either of the person, estate or bot
- Adult Adoptions
- Name Changes
Every City or Town in this state has it's own probate court, which administers these laws. Probate Court is a court of law established by RIGL 8-9; the operating statute for Probate is RIGL, Title 33.
Sessions will convene at 9:30 A.M. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month unless that day is a legal holiday. Court sessions are held at the Warren Town Hall, 514 Main Street in the Town Council Chambers, second floor. The court reserves the right to meet on a different day at a different place for contested matters.
